AJ Styles came to TKO’s defense, even while acknowledging that WWE’s parent company needs to take responsibility when something goes wrong.

During a recent appearance on the Phenomenally Retro Podcast, the “Phenomenal One” commented on how fans have treated the company’s decisions since WWE became part of TKO Group Holdings.

According to Styles, TKO should be held accountable for everything that happens, since it is in charge of the company. However, he also believes the same logic needs to apply when something positive happens.

“You guys have to understand, that’s their job, to take the blame for everything that’s going on. That’s their responsibility. ‘Listen, we’re in charge of this, so we take all the blame. That’s our job, and we have to live with that.’

But also, if they do something right, we need to praise them. With AAA, they did something right. We can praise them for that. With other things, maybe they did something wrong. Fine, that was bad. We’re entitled to opinions and everything else.”

Styles also said fans cannot stay negative about absolutely everything involving TKO, because in his view, there are good decisions being made.

“But at the same time, you can’t be boo-boo face about everything that’s going on, because there are good things happening with TKO. It’s not going to be perfect all the time. Nobody is.”

The comments stand out because they come at a time when TKO has become one of the main targets of criticism from WWE fans, whether because of creative decisions, increased corporate influence, or changes to how the company handles its major events.

Still, the example Styles pointed to is clear. WWE’s acquisition of AAA was viewed internally as a major move for international expansion, especially because it involved one of Mexico’s most traditional promotions.

The deal was announced during WrestleMania 41 weekend in Las Vegas, with WWE emphasizing that AAA’s historic importance within lucha libre would continue to be respected.

It remains to be seen whether Styles’ opinion will be well received by fans. Still, his point was direct: if TKO is going to be held accountable for its mistakes, it should also get credit when a decision actually works.
