AJ Styles will be in the building for Sunday’s WWE doubleheader in Texas featuring NXT Heatwave and AAA Ola de Calor, but fans shouldn’t expect to see him on camera.
According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Styles will be at the Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg working behind the scenes as a producer. The current expectation is that the WWE Hall of Famer will remain entirely off television, with no segments planned for either show.
The role is part of the temporary backstage work Styles has taken on in NXT while Terry Taylor recovers from knee surgery. The Phenomenal One recently clarified that he has not become a full-time coach but has been filling in for Taylor and helping directly with match production.
Over the past several weeks, Styles has produced multiple matches for both NXT and WWE EVOLVE. On The AJ Styles Show, he said he believes he’ll get the chance to help produce the Fatal 4-Way for the NXT Championship between Tony D’Angelo, Zilla Fatu, Grayson Waller, and Cruz Montana, one of the marquee matches at Heatwave.
Sunday’s card kicks off with AAA Ola de Calor at 12 p.m. ET, followed by NXT Heatwave at 3 p.m. ET. Both events will be held at the same arena in Edinburg.
Styles retired from in-ring competition in January after losing to Gunther at the Royal Rumble in a career-on-the-line match.
He was subsequently inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2026 and has remained heavily involved with the company in backstage roles ever since.
