Kelani Jordan sits atop the NXT women’s division.
At Sunday’s Heatwave premium live event, held at the Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg, Texas, she defeated Kendal Grey to capture the WWE NXT Women’s Championship for the first time in her career.
Jordan headed into the show after months of complaining that she was being passed over for a title shot. On the August 11 episode of NXT, Grey put an end to the complaints by securing a contract that let Jordan choose when and where she’d receive her opportunity. Jordan picked Heatwave.
Grey entered the match still dealing with a cut on her right ear from her NXT Underground Match against Lola Vice on August 4. Jordan targeted the injury throughout the bout.
Down the stretch, Jordan sent Grey into an exposed turnbuckle and followed up with the One of a Kind to score the pinfall and win the title.
The victory gives Jordan her second championship in WWE. At NXT Battleground in 2024, she won a Six-Woman Ladder Match to become the inaugural NXT Women’s North American Champion.
