Vanity Project is back on top. Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes defeated Myles Borne and Tavion Heights at Sunday’s NXT Heatwave from the Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg, Texas, recapturing the WWE NXT Tag Team Championship.
Baylor and Smokes came into the event gunning for the team that ended their first reign. On April 8, Borne and Heights dethroned Vanity Project after Jackson Drake and Myka Lockwood were ejected from ringside.
Heatwave was a different story. Borne and Heights had the upper hand early, but Baylor and Smokes took control with interference from Lockwood during the match.
Both teams traded near-falls down the stretch. The decisive moment came when Baylor sent Borne crashing into Heights on the apron, leaving the defending champions unable to regroup.
Smokes capitalized, and the duo hit the Hit It and Quit It on Borne to pick up the pinfall and the titles.
The win gives Baylor and Smokes their second NXT Tag Team Championship reign. Their first title win came in February 2024, when they defeated DarkState with an assist from Tony D’Angelo.
