AJ Styles had nothing but praise for both El Grande Americanos ahead of their highly anticipated showdown at AAA.

Chad Gable was the one who originally started the character in WWE during his rivalry against Rey Mysterio and the LWO before WrestleMania 41. However, after his injury at Money in the Bank, Ludwig Kaiser took over the mask and took the character to another level on AAA programming.

Speaking on Phenomenally Retro, Styles said both are very underrated, but gave special credit to Kaiser’s work, especially for the way he embraced the character and started speaking Spanish.

“They’re very much looked over. (Kaiser)’s brilliant. I’ve seen this guy, I had to look back because we’re eating lunch, and see who was talking, because I thought it was him, and sure enough, he’s speaking Spanish fluently. I just start laughing. He has embraced this character so much, and is so good at it.”

“Got the sweetest girl from Mexico who says she’s his tutor, and I was like ‘I’m so proud of him’, because he’s actually very good in the ring, very good. He understands his character. If he’s a heel, he is that heel character. I loved working him. I’m so stoked for him, man.”

“And of course, the other Grande Americano. I don’t want to call them by their names, but you know who we’re talking about. He’s good man, that’s what makes this match special, those two going at it, it’s good. It started as a joke and then they were like ‘this thing’s got legs’.” h/t Wrestletalk

The rivalry between the two will reach its peak at Noche de Los Grandes, set for May 30 at Arena Monterrey in Mexico. The bout will be a Mask vs. Mask Match, meaning one of them will lose his mask for good.
