Baron Corbin is back in WWE. The former United States Champion made a surprise return on Friday Night SmackDown, held at the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
The return came during a non-title match between Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes. As Hayes climbed to the top rope looking to hit Nothing But Net, Corbin showed up and stopped him before he could pull off the move.
From there, the Lone Wolf went after both men, and the match was left with no result. Corbin took out Hayes and dropped Williams with an End of Days to close out the segment.

Just before the match, Lil Yachty had presented Williams with a custom version of the United States Championship, a fur-covered strap designed to match the coat the champion wears to the ring. The attack puts Corbin right back on track for the title he first won in 2017.
Rumors of a Corbin return had been swirling since May. In recent weeks, the wrestler wrapped up his commitments with MLW, where he competed as Bishop Dyer and made up one half of the Skyscrapers alongside Donovan Dijak.
Dyer was also stripped of his MLW World Tag Team Championship reign just days before SmackDown, after the promotion turned his exit into a storyline built around a contract dispute. Dijak has since started defending the title alongside Josh Bishop.
