Add as a preferred source on Google Becky Lynch was not happy with the end of Sami Zayn’s short reign as Undisputed WWE Champion.
On this week’s RAW in Chicago, Zayn was originally scheduled to defend the title against Cody Rhodes. Rhodes, however, was pulled from the match after being attacked by Gunther, opening the door for CM Punk’s surprise return.
Punk went on to defeat Zayn and capture the Undisputed WWE Championship. Shortly after the show, Lynch reacted on social media with an outraged message:
“SAMI WAS ROBBED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
As we previously reported, the decision to put the title on CM Punk was not a last-minute call. Fightful Select reported that WWE already knew Punk was returning and had planned for Zayn to lose the championship well ahead of time.
The situation also drew reactions outside WWE. KENTA, whose name has long been linked to the Go To Sleep, did not seem pleased with the outcome either, writing:
“I hate seeing this.”
With that, Zayn’s reign ended on a bitter note for some fans. He had won the title at Night of Champions by defeating Cody Rhodes and Gunther in a Triple Threat Match.
