Bronson Reed Pushes Back Against Criticism Over His Major Weight Loss

Bronson Reed is set to wrestle his first WWE match since undergoing a major physical transformation. He will face Oba Femi at Money in the Bank on Saturday, October 10, in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Reed has not competed since February, when he suffered a serious biceps injury during an Elimination Chamber qualifying match. The injury required surgery.

He returned at Sunday Night’s Main Event on September 6, interfering in the match between Bron Breakker and Oba Femi and hitting Femi with four Tsunamis.

During a recent appearance on Cheap Heat Live, Reed addressed criticism from fans who believe his weight loss could diminish his imposing appearance and the impact of his moves.

“I think, you know, I can get more distance. I get more airtime. […] If anything, I’m more impactful now. I’m still a massive human being. I’m still 270 pounds. I’m still a big guy.”

Reed explained that he deliberately gained weight for years because he believed a man of his size performing impressive moves would be a major draw. He now wants to showcase the skills he developed while wrestling on the independent circuit and in Japan.

“I feel like everyday life, I’m moving better as well. You know, I’m playing with my daughter easier. Tying up my shoes is much easier. You know, I look at myself in the mirror after the shower. I’m very happy.”
