Chris Jericho has once again addressed, without giving much away, the rumors that he may have negotiated with WWE before returning to AEW.
The former AEW World Champion spent nearly a year away from Tony Khan’s company before returning on the April 1 episode of Dynamite in Winnipeg, his hometown, simply saying he was “home.”
During a recent interview with Ringer Wrestling, Jericho was asked about possible talks with WWE during his time as a free agent. The veteran, however, chose to keep the mystery alive.
“Whatever people believed or didn’t believe, I wasn’t ever a part of any of it. I think the best part was there was so much speculation of what is he going to do, that either way, with the tribalism of wrestling nowadays, there would be people happy about it and not happy about. ‘This is the worst thing ever’ and ‘this is the best thing ever’.
“The rumours became facts to the fans. I’ll leave that for another day, I like the idea of the intrigue…”
The situation drew major attention because Jericho’s contract reportedly expired at the end of 2025. However, Tony Khan later confirmed during the AEW Dynasty media call that the veteran had signed a new multi-year deal with the company.
Khan also said Jericho had several options in the wrestling world, but wanted to return specifically in Winnipeg and get back in the ring at the following pay-per-view.
