CM Punk had a memorable night at WWE x AAA Worlds Collide on Saturday, teaming with Rey Mysterio and El Grande Americano in the main event. The show took place at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois, outside Chicago.
Punk also brought back elements of his first WWE run for the occasion. He made his entrance to Killswitch Engage’s “This Fire Burns” and wore a mask inspired by the Straight Edge Society era. Punk, Rey Mysterio and El Grande Americano picked up the win over Dominik Mysterio, JD McDonagh and Omos.
After the show, Punk thanked the fans in a message on Instagram and spoke about how much it meant to have another big night in Chicago.
“I want you to know my gratitude knows no bounds. I am nothing with the fans. Chicago. I love you. A perfect night.”
In the same message, Punk pointed to the different cultures that came together at Worlds Collide and called wrestling a universal language. He also thanked the fans and the wrestlers who were part of the event.
Worlds Collide was not broadcast live. WWE confirmed that the show will air for free on Wednesday, September 30, at 7 p.m. ET, exclusively on YouTube in the United States.
