Add as a preferred source on Google Gunther left WWE Clash in Italy visibly frustrated with the outcome of his Undisputed WWE Championship match against Cody Rhodes.
Shortly after the match, WWE posted a backstage video showing The Ring General clearly furious over the controversial finish in Turin, Italy.
Rhodes defeated Gunther after hitting a Cody Cutter and a Cross Rhodes, then scoring the pinfall to retain the title. The issue was that, during the count, Gunther’s foot was underneath the bottom rope, which should have stopped the pin.
Even so, the referee’s decision stood, and Rhodes remained champion.
The rivalry had been building since Gunther attacked Rhodes on Friday Night SmackDown earlier this month. He later used the favor Paul Heyman owed him to secure the contract and get his title match.
