Cody Rhodes said the winner of his Last Man Standing match against Randy Orton will probably get the next shot at the Undisputed WWE Championship.
On Friday’s SmackDown in Charleston, West Virginia, Rhodes mentioned Sami Zayn and Trick Williams, who were set to wrestle for the title later that night. He believes the title shot will be on the line no matter who the champion is.
Rhodes opened his promo by apologizing in advance to Orton’s wife, his five children, and the fans for what he has in store for Orton at Crown Jewel.
He then had production show a photo of his face after WrestleMania 42, where he beat Orton to retain the Undisputed WWE title before Orton punted him. The punt left him with a badly swollen left eye.
Rhodes promised to return the favor and brought up the many other WWE stars Orton has punted over the years.
Later in the show, Zayn defeated Williams in a No Disqualification match to keep the Undisputed WWE title. He will face World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns at Crown Jewel in a Champion vs. Champion match.
Crown Jewel takes place on Saturday, November 7, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
