Corey Graves has resumed physical training in recent months and has left open the possibility of one more match, more than a decade after retiring from in-ring competition. The WWE commentator specifically named AAA as a scenario that could interest him, but he did not announce any concrete plans for a return.
Speaking on The Mark Hoke Show, Graves revealed that he went back to the gym to see how his body responds to training.
“I’m proud to report I have been back in the gym for the past several months just to kind of see how I feel.”
Graves also said he was medically cleared years ago and that, at the time, he saw a possible opportunity to return to the ring. Those plans never came together. Now, discussing his future, he pointed to AAA as a possibility and didn’t rule out a return to the ring if the right opportunity comes along.
The comments mark a shift from what Graves said in March. In an interview with TV Insider, Graves revealed he was cleared to compete but said he had no intention of keeping up the physical preparation it would take. He was not actively pursuing a return at the time, but he also did not rule out an opportunity with WWE or AAA.
Graves stopped competing in 2014 because of a series of concussion-related issues. That December, during NXT TakeOver: R Evolution, he officially announced his retirement from the ring and began his transition to WWE’s commentary team.
For now, there is no match announced for Graves. The new part is that after months of saying he was not chasing a return, he is back in training and has begun publicly considering the possibility of wrestling for AAA.
