Add as a preferred source on Google AEW has confirmed MJF vs. Mark Briscoe for the AEW World Championship for the next episode of Dynamite. The show takes place this Wednesday, July 1, at Viejas Arena in San Diego, California.
The announcement came just minutes after Team Briscoe won at Forbidden Door on Sunday, June 28, at SAP Center in San Jose.
At the pay-per-view, Team Briscoe faced Team MJF in a 12-Man Tag Team Steel Cage Match, with the stipulation that Briscoe would receive a title shot if his team won.
In the end, Mark Briscoe, The Conglomeration, Darby Allin and Konosuke Takeshita defeated MJF and the Don Callis Family. The climax came when Andrade attacked MJF and Jake Doyle, opening the door for Briscoe to hit Doyle with the Jay Driller for the win.
After the victory, Briscoe made it clear backstage that he wanted his shot at MJF on this week’s Dynamite.
That gives the next episode of Dynamite one of the biggest matches of MJF’s new reign as AEW World Champion.
