Willow Nightingale could be close to returning to AEW after missing just over a month with an injury.

According to Fightful Select, the current plan is for the former AEW TBS Champion to return sometime in July.

“The current plan is for Wlilow Nightingale to make her return in July,” Fightful wrote.

Nightingale has been out of action since May, when she announced on AEW Dynamite that she had suffered a shoulder injury and would have to vacate the TBS Championship. She was also pulled from the Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament.

That situation led AEW to set up a new champion being crowned on the July 1 episode of AEW Dynamite in San Diego, through a Survival of the Fittest Match.

During a recent Forbidden Door media call, Tony Khan had already sounded optimistic about Nightingale’s recovery.

“We’ll be following Willow’s progress in the weeks to come as she’s recovering. We’re all looking forward to her return, which I think will happen relatively soon.”

If Nightingale does return in July, it would come shortly after AEW crowns a new champion, potentially putting her right back in the mix for the title she never truly lost.
