Eva Marie said she would need a lot of money and a role in creative decisions for her character to consider a move to AEW.
In an interview with TMZ Sports’ Inside The Ring, Marie was asked if other wrestling companies had reached out to her in recent years. She said she has thought about wrestling elsewhere but doesn’t want to just go back to the character she played in WWE, which she still sees as her home.
“There would be a lot of zeros, and I would have to have some type of creative control,” Marie said.
Marie said her time in WWE showed her the importance of being involved in building her storylines. She said a lot of wrestlers on the roster count on creative to come up with interesting stories and get the payoff right. When that doesn’t happen, it can hurt the character. She feels more freedom to pitch ideas would help prevent that.
During the interview, Marie did not name any company that made her a specific offer. She said she never looked any further into her options after thinking about working for another promotion.
Marie appeared on Insight with Chris Van Vliet back on February 19 and left the door open to wrestling outside WWE. In the same interview, she praised WWE’s production but also talked about how unhappy she was with the creative she was given. She said she never had a consistent storyline on the main roster and that her return in 2021 should have been longer.
