AEW has announced that Mercedes Moné will defend her AEW Women’s World Championship against Marina Shafir at Full Gear.
The match was announced on Saturday’s Fright Night edition of Collision, when AEW aired a video package on the recent issues between the two. The video ended with a message from Shafir to the champion.
“I want to show everyone exactly who I am, but most importantly, I need to show you,” Shafir said.
On Wednesday’s Dynamite, Shafir defeated Rachel Armstrong, then called out Moné. Moné slapped her in the face several times in response, and Shafir put her hands behind her back and let Moné keep going. Shafir then tried for a kick to the head, but Moné escaped.
Shafir started going after Moné a few weeks ago. Shafir interrupted the celebration after Moné’s win over Thekla at WrestleDream, and she later posted a statement in which she explained why she wanted to wrestle the champion.
Moné defeated Willow Nightingale to win the title at All In: London on August 30. She has since defended the title against Queen Aminata and Thekla. The match with Shafir will be her third defense.
The last time Moné wrestled at Full Gear, it was also for the AEW Women’s World title. In November 2025, she challenged Kris Statlander for the title but lost.
Full Gear 2026 will be held on Saturday, November 14, at the Mortgage Matchup Center in Phoenix, Arizona.
