Nyla Rose hasn’t appeared on AEW programming in over a year and a half, but the former Women’s World Champion says she’s been working behind the scenes for the company.
Speaking at a K & S WrestleFest virtual signing, Rose was asked what she’s been doing while away from AEW television. Along with her backstage role, she pointed to appearances on the independent scene and in Japan.
“Mostly, a little bit of backstage, behind-the-scenes stuff — that front with AEW.”

2:13 PM · Aug 8, 2026Fightful Select reported in May that Rose remains under contract with AEW. Also in May, Rose told Thunder Rosa on her YouTube channel that she would “definitely” like to wrestle for the company again, naming then-world champion Thekla as a potential opponent.
That return hasn’t happened yet, but Rose has stayed busy outside AEW. She and Nightshade won the AAAW Tag Team Championship at a Marvelous event in Japan on May 5 and worked additional dates there, including Marigold Shine Forever on May 23.
Her most recent match came July 3 at T4T Wrestling’s inaugural event in Los Angeles — a Triple Threat for the NWA World Women’s Television Championship against Dark Sheik and Gisele Shaw. Shaw retained.
Rose’s last televised AEW match was taped November 20, 2024 and aired on the November 22 episode of Rampage, a tag team loss alongside Harley Cameron to Mariah May and Mina Shirakawa. No timeline for her in-ring return has been announced.
