Colby Covington has revealed he’s already had conversations with Triple H about a possible move to WWE, though his immediate focus remains fully on Real American Freestyle.
In a recent interview with Brian Mazique, the former UFC Interim Welterweight Champion said WWE is among the possibilities for the final stretch of his career. So far, though, no formal negotiations or agreement have been announced.
“R.A.F. is definitely somewhere I see myself ending my competitive career at. Whether I entertain other fight offers and go back to the UFC and get some big fights, those are still possibilities. You never know what the future holds and what tomorrow holds. All I can do is control what I can control today and that’s just my hard training and preparing for Arman Tsarukyan and you just never know where life will take me. I’ve had some calls with Triple H and the WWE, so that’s a potential possibility in the future as well. But I’m all in on R.A.F.; I invested my hard-earned money that I earned fighting into R.A.F. to get a little small equity percentage and I care about the future.”
Covington notified the UFC of his retirement in May, closing out a run that began in 2014. Even so, he once again left the door open to taking new MMA fights if a big offer comes his way.
In RAF, Covington remains undefeated, having beaten Luke Rockhold, Dillon Danis, and Chris Weidman. He’s next in action Saturday, July 18, when he’s set to face Arman Tsarukyan in the main event of RAF 11 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
The bout will also put the promotion’s first Crossover Championship on the line. Tsarukyan is also undefeated in the organization, which raises the stakes even higher.
Covington isn’t new to professional wrestling, either. In 2017, he appeared in Impact Wrestling as part of American Top Team, taking part in the Bobby Lashley storyline and even attacking referee Brian Hebner with a rear-naked choke.
