Add as a preferred source on Google AJ Styles has left open the possibility of returning to the ring for one last match, nearly six months after his career-ending loss to Gunther at the Royal Rumble on January 31.
In an interview on Insight with Chris Van Vliet published July 21, the WWE Hall of Famer was asked whether he was really retired. Styles didn’t announce a comeback, but he said you should never say never.
“That’s right (I know how wrestling retirements are), but I have said this before, and I’ll say it again, usually we’re granted one comeback for one match. I’m not saying it’s gonna happen. I’m just saying usually it’s granted. Never say never.”
Styles then revealed what could convince him to return:
“Listen, the opportunity to wrestle with my son or sons, that’d be pretty cool.”
That possibility ties into the start of Avery Styles’ career. Avery made his debut for Squared Circle Action on June 26, defeating Ashton Martin with a Styles Clash.
Avery is also confirmed to make his GCW debut on July 31 in Omaha, Nebraska, and August 1 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Despite the family’s ties to WWE, Styles said in the same interview that Avery still isn’t ready for a WWE tryout.
