Joseph Sawyer and Samuel Shaw, known in WWE as Joe Gacy and Dexter Lumis, made their TNA debut on Thursday’s episode of iMPACT.
The Hardys came to the ring and demanded that whoever was behind the mysterious attacks of recent weeks show their faces. Chainsaws were heard next as the arena lights began to flicker, and Matt and Jeff Hardy were attacked once again before Sawyer and Shaw finally revealed themselves to the crowd.
The pair’s arrival had been building for a few weeks. Leon Slater, Ryan Nemeth, Cedric Alexander, Moose and the Hardys themselves were among those targeted in the attacks.
PWInsider had recently reported that Sawyer and Shaw were being discussed in creative pitches specifically for TNA’s shows on September 24 and 25. TNA also had “serious interest” in signing several former members of the Wyatt Sicks, and that interest has now materialized.
WWE released Sawyer and Shaw in April along with Bo Dallas, Nikki Cross and Erick Rowan, putting a complete end to the Wyatt Sicks.
During their time in WWE, the two won the WWE Tag Team Championship together. They have continued to team on the independent circuit since then, and Sawyer has also won the GCW World Championship.
The appearance also marked a return to TNA for Shaw, who had worked for the promotion before his WWE run.
