Indi Hartwell is finally getting the title shot she has spent the past few weeks chasing. She will challenge Xia Brookside for the TNA Knockouts World Championship at Bound For Glory.
TNA confirmed the match on Thursday’s episode of iMPACT in San Antonio, Texas, following the latest chapter in Hartwell’s feud with Daria Rae.
Backstage, Hartwell kept provoking Rae, a TNA authority figure, until Rae slapped her across the face. Moments later, Hartwell revealed that the whole thing had been planned, with Santino Marella recording the confrontation so he could send the video to the Board of Directors.
Marella later announced that Rae had been suspended and, with her temporarily off television, made Hartwell vs. Brookside official for Bound For Glory.
Hartwell’s shot at the championship comes after weeks of conflict. On the September 3 episode of iMPACT, Hartwell and Harley Hudson defeated Brookside and Zoey Serrano, with Hartwell forcing the Knockouts World Champion herself to tap out. Even so, Rae rejected Hartwell’s request for a title match.
The following week, Brookside put the title on the line against Gabby Forza. Hartwell stopped the champion from walking out of the match, but an argument with Rae distracted the referee and gave Brookside an opening to hit Forza with the title belt and retain.
Brookside won the Knockouts World Championship by defeating Léi Yǐng Lee at Slammiversary on June 28.
Bound For Glory is set for October 11 at the Yuengling Center. It will be the first edition of the event held in Tampa, Florida.
