TNA is still scouting talent to bolster its roster, and two wrestlers who recently went through WWE tryouts have caught the company’s eye.
Fightful Select reports that J-Rod and Josh Bishop have drawn interest from TNA and have even attended recent company tapings. Both were also spotted in the crowd during TNA’s stop in Chicago. So far, however, there has been no confirmation of a contract for either wrestler.
The situation stands out because J-Rod and Bishop also took part in the tryouts WWE held in Minneapolis ahead of SummerSlam. In J-Rod’s case, TNA’s interest was reported as early as July, before the tryout appearance drew wider attention.
The two were also at TNA Lockdown, which took place on August 23 at Credit Union 1 Arena. Others spotted at the show included Pinky Montoya, Kal Herro, and Missa Kate. Herro has been working regularly for OVW. Kate announced her retirement from in-ring competition earlier this year, though she has left the door open to a return.
The interest comes as TNA is adding new talent. On Thursday, September 24, the company officially announced the signings of Joseph Sawyer and Samuel Shaw, formerly known in WWE as Joe Gacy and Dexter Lumis, respectively. Both were introduced as members of Syx on TNA Impact in San Antonio, Texas.
TNA is now preparing for Bound for Glory, which is set for October 11 at the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida.
