GUNTHER laid out Finn Bálor on Friday’s SmackDown in Louisiana, making Bálor the latest target of his attacks.
The rivalry between GUNTHER and Bálor has grown more prominent in recent weeks. On September 25, the two were part of a Triple Threat qualifying match for the Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match, which CM Punk won. Last week, GUNTHER attacked Bálor and Sami Zayn and also went after Danhausen backstage.
Earlier in the show, Bálor went to General Manager Nick Aldis and asked for a match against GUNTHER. The match could not be made, however, because GUNTHER had demanded to face Danhausen.
GUNTHER dominated once the match got underway. Danhausen tried to put a curse on GUNTHER but was caught with a big boot, followed by several chops and powerbombs.
Bálor then came out to stop GUNTHER from continuing the assault. The referee ruled the match a no contest as Bálor tried to take GUNTHER down.
Bálor had the upper hand at first, but it did not last long. GUNTHER sent Bálor into the barricade and the ring post before working him over on the apron.
GUNTHER finished the attack by powerbombing Bálor onto the announce table. Referees and officials had to step in as GUNTHER left ringside.
