Gunther once again caught fans’ attention after a stat pointed out that he has never lost a non-title singles match since arriving on WWE’s main roster. The record, listed as 37-0 on social media, does not include title matches, tag team bouts, or multi-person matches.
The streak began on April 8, 2022, when Gunther made his Friday Night SmackDown debut against Joe Alonzo, with Ludwig Kaiser by his side. A few months later, he defeated Ricochet and began the longest reign in Intercontinental Championship history at 666 days.
The stat gained even more momentum after the latest Friday Night SmackDown, held in Columbia, South Carolina. Gunther defeated Royce Keys in 15:53 and earned a shot at Cody Rhodes’ WWE Championship at Clash In Italy.

That level of protection has not kept Gunther from taking major losses in his recent career. Those defeats, however, came in title matches, including the end of his Intercontinental Championship reign and bouts involving the World Heavyweight Championship.
Clash In Italy will take place on May 31 at Inalpi Arena in Turin, with Cody Rhodes vs. Gunther as one of the major matches announced by WWE.
Now the question is whether the company will keep that streak intact until then, or whether the focus will shift entirely to Gunther winning the top title.
