Gunther made it clear that winning the Undisputed WWE Championship remains his biggest goal in WWE, just days before Clash in Italy.

During a recent interview with the Italian Wrestling Channel, The Ring General discussed getting another chance to challenge for the company’s top title, currently held by Cody Rhodes.

“You need to have goals to achieve, I think. But the ultimate goal of every pro wrestler is to be a champion. So that’s what I’m here to do.”

His comments come as the rivalry between Gunther and Rhodes enters its final stretch. WWE has already confirmed that the two will face off on Sunday, May 31, at the Inalpi Arena in Turin, Italy.

In the United States, Clash in Italy will stream on the ESPN App through the ESPN Unlimited plan starting at 2 PM ET / 11 AM PT. Internationally, the event will be available on Netflix.

Gunther officially entered the title picture after defeating Royce Keys on Friday Night SmackDown, securing his spot as Rhodes’ challenger at the premium live event.

It is important to remember that this will be Gunther’s first opportunity at the WWE Championship. His previous meeting with Cody came at Crown Jewel 2024, where Rhodes picked up the win and became the first Men’s Crown Jewel Champion.

The rivalry also added another layer on this week’s SmackDown, when Sami Zayn refused to help Rhodes after another move from Gunther, raising the tension even more ahead of their match in Italy.
