Jay White surprised AEW fans by returning to the ring on Saturday night during WrestleDream, held at Addition Financial Arena in Orlando, Florida. He took part in a 12-man tag team match on Saturday Tailgate Brawl.
The return happened only 21 days after the injury suffered at All Out in September. On the Oct. 3 Collision, Tony Schiavone had announced that White would be out of action for one to two months, meaning the return exceeded expectations.
At Thursday’s media call, Tony Khan still included White among the absences from WrestleDream. Meanwhile, Dave Meltzer revealed in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the expectation behind the scenes was that he would fill the spot later assigned to Adam Copeland in the Clockwork Carnage match for the AEW World Championship. The early recovery allowed his participation in the pre-show but did not change the title match.

White teamed with Austin Gunn, Colten Gunn, Orange Cassidy, Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong to face the union between The Dogs, formed by David Finlay and Clark Connors, and Death Riders, represented by Claudio Castagnoli, Daniel Garcia, Gabe Kidd and Wheeler Yuta.
Despite the return, White ended up defeated along with his partners. Castagnoli and Yuta secured the win for their team after getting the pinfall over Colten Gunn.
White had defeated members of the same groups alongside the Bang Bang Gang in his last match before the injury. His return, therefore, happened against the same opponents he faced before his absence, continuing the rivalry interrupted at All Out.
