Maya World announced on Saturday, Oct. 17, that she was medically cleared to return to wrestling in AEW. She revealed the news during the WrestleDream Buy-In, held in Orlando, Florida.
This happens 38 days after her last match, held on Sept. 9 on Rebel Heart Dynamite. As previously reported by Wrestling Noticias, World’s recovery after her surgery could take a few months, but, as happened with Jay White, the return was moved up.
Tony Khan was still treating World as sidelined during the WrestleDream media call, held on Thursday. At the time, he highlighted the work of Hyan, who began receiving more opportunities in AEW during her partner’s absence.
World had already given signs that she could return earlier than expected. In September, after Britt Baker mocked the news about her absence, she responded on social media, suggesting that Baker and Persephone should not let their guard down during the coming months.
The clearance also happens while Hyan challenges for the TBS Championship against Persephone, Dani Luna and Queen Aminata at Saturday night’s pay-per-view.
World has not yet announced the date of her next match. Her actual return to the ring will be the first since the medical procedure that took her off programming in September.
