Jay White apparently avoided a serious injury at AEW Redemption. White had fans worried after landing on his head off a move from David Finlay, but he is expected to be available for the inaugural AEW Continental Challenge Cup.

During the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez and Dave Meltzer discussed White’s condition. Alvarez said:

“White also in the tournament, so apparently he was not injured too badly when he got spiked on his head.”

Meltzer also said White was only expected to be out for about a week.

“He was banged up, but he was only supposed to be out for about a week or so. So he’ll be there.”

The incident occurred during the Double Chain Match between Bang Bang Gang and The Dogs on July 26 in Montreal. Finlay hit a variation of the Dominator, and White landed on his head but continued the match. Finlay later pinned Juice Robinson to secure the win for his team.

The news is a big boost for the rivalry, with White and Finlay still on track to meet in the first round. They’ll face off on the August 12 episode of AEW Dynamite at Pearl Theater at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.

The new tournament will feature 16 wrestlers in a single-elimination format, with new draws taking place after each round. The matches will also follow Continental Rules, which prohibit outside interference.

White returned to AEW at Forbidden Door on June 28 after spending more than a year out of action. His first singles match since March 2025 took place on July 22, when he defeated Clark Connors by submission.
