John Cena signaled in a message on Tuesday that news on the John Cena Classic is coming.
Cena once again addressed WWE’s plans for the tournament, which will bring together talent from the main roster and NXT. The message came after months with few updates on the Classic.
In a post on X, Cena said the speculation will end on Monday, when he returns to Raw. He also invited fans to help build the event.
“The wait is over, the speculation ends 11/2,” Cena said. “Let’s build this ‘Never Seen’ CLASSIC! OUR time is NOW!”
The message didn’t specify what will be revealed. Details that have yet to be announced include the event’s exact date, its venue, and the wrestlers who will compete.
Cena had already discussed the topic in May during an interview with CBS Sports HQ. At the time, he acknowledged the criticism of the fan voting format and said there was still work to be done on how it would operate.
The date of the tournament is reportedly a major topic of discussion behind the scenes. As previously reported, WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select said WWE was considering two possible dates, December 12 and December 19.
Cena’s Raw return will take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The episode will have an unusual 6 p.m. ET start time and will stream live on Netflix in the U.S.
WWE will also tape SmackDown after Raw goes off the air.
