Kendal Grey will be out of action in WWE indefinitely after what happened at NXT Heatwave this past Sunday in Edinburg, Texas.
On Tuesday’s WWE NXT, Vic Joseph revealed that Grey suffered a case of vertigo. Medical staff ruled out a concussion but identified a problem with her vestibular system, which controls balance and spatial awareness. As a result, the former NXT Women’s Champion has not been cleared to compete.
The issue is directly tied to the right ear injury Grey suffered during her Underground Match against Lola Vice on April 8. She was thrown into the steel steps and suffered a deep cut that required medical attention.
Grey kept dealing with problems in the weeks that followed. Before Heatwave, she said on Busted Open Radio that she still had ringing in her ear, was not fully balanced and was still doing rehab work.
Even so, Grey was cleared to defend the NXT Women’s Championship against Kelani Jordan. Jordan repeatedly went after the injured area during the match and threw Grey into the exposed turnbuckle before hitting her Split-Legged Moonsault to win the title.
WWE has not given any timeline for Grey’s return. She will remain out until she receives new medical clearance.
