Kevin Owens sparked serious concern among fans after Sunday’s WWE live event at the North Charleston Coliseum in South Carolina. Owens was visibly limping after his win over The Miz and had to be helped to the back.
The situation was initially unclear. Mike Johnson of PWInsider Elite reported that no one he spoke with could definitively confirm an injury, though some talent backstage believed Owens was simply selling.
That concern has now been largely put to rest. On today’s Wrestling Observer Live, Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez confirmed that Owens is fine and did not suffer a new injury. Meltzer wrote the following:
“Kevin Owens is okay from what we are told. No injury.”
The update is particularly welcome given Owens’ recent history. He only returned at SummerSlam after missing 17 months due to neck surgery, defeating Sami Zayn, Gunther, and Finn Bálor in a Fatal 4-Way Match to earn a shot at the Undisputed WWE Championship.
Since his return, Owens has remained in the mix for CM Punk’s title, while his rivalry with Sami Zayn has also picked back up on SmackDown.
