Kofi Could Make History at AEW Grand Slam: France

Kofi could join a very exclusive club in pro wrestling history if he wins the ROH World Championship at AEW Grand Slam: France.

On the latest episode of AEW Collision, Kofi defeated reigning ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty. Right after the win, he challenged Bandido for the ROH World Championship. The match has been confirmed for Tuesday’s show on October 6.

A victory would make Kofi only the seventh wrestler in history to win a world title in both WWE and ROH. The other six are CM Punk, Bryan Danielson, Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, Cody Rhodes and Chris Jericho. Rollins held the ROH World Championship while wrestling as Tyler Black, and Owens held it when he was known as Kevin Steen.

Kofi won the WWE Championship by beating Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 35 in April 2019. His only reign with the title ended six months later with a loss to Brock Lesnar on SmackDown.

Bandido, meanwhile, is in his second reign as ROH World Champion. He regained the title by defeating Chris Jericho at AEW Dynasty on April 6, 2025. He has held it for more than 540 days.

Kofi is already a champion in AEW. He and Austin Creed made their AEW debuts at All In: London as The New Level, teaming with Swerve Strickland to win the AEW World Trios Championship.

Grand Slam: France is set for Adidas Arena in Paris and will be AEW’s first-ever live event in France.
