Jack Perry has ended any speculation about his future by re-signing with AEW, but a move to WWE was reportedly never seriously in play.
According to WrestleVotes Radio, via Fightful Select, WWE had practically no internal discussions about pursuing Perry had he reached free agency. The prevailing feeling backstage was that he didn’t fit the company’s current landscape.
“WWE had ‘little to no’ internal discussions regarding the possibility of pursuing Jack Perry during his potential free agency – prior to re-signing with AEW. Sources indicate that there was ‘never much appetite’ to bring Perry in, as the prevailing feeling internally was that Perry didn’t fit WWE’s current landscape.”
The report surfaced shortly after AEW confirmed Perry’s re-signing during Dynamite: Beach Break on July 8. A video package aired on the show recapping Perry’s run with the company before he signed the new deal and shook hands with Tony Khan. The length of the contract was not revealed.

Perry had been in negotiations with AEW for a few weeks. Back in late June, with the new deal still not finalized, Khan said the plan was to keep him with the company for the long haul.
In the re-signing video, Perry also made clear that staying on the roster isn’t his only goal. He said his main objective is winning the AEW World Championship, framing his new deal as the start of a new chapter in his career.
Perry has been with AEW since 2019 and has already held the World Tag Team Championship, TNT Championship, and National Championship.
