Jack Perry’s future remains up in the air in AEW, even though he is one of Tony Khan’s company’s original names.

According to Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer, Perry still has not signed a new contract with AEW. The key detail is that his current deal is very close to expiring, although the exact date has not been revealed.

“As of today, Jack Perry still has not re-signed with AEW and his contract is up very shortly.”

The situation stands out because negotiations between Perry and AEW have been ongoing since June. At the time, there was an expectation that a new deal would be reached, but nothing has been finalized so far.

During the Forbidden Door media scrum, Tony Khan was asked about Perry’s status and avoided getting into contractual details. Even so, he said AEW’s plan is to keep Perry with the company for a long time.

Perry has been with AEW since 2019, making him one of the names who has been there since the company’s early days. During his run, he has won the AEW World Tag Team Championship alongside Luchasaurus, as well as the TNT Championship, FTW Championship, and AEW National Championship.

His recent run on AEW programming, however, has not been the strongest. Perry lost the AEW National Championship to Mark Davis at the Fairway To Hell special, and in his most recent match, he was defeated by Zack Sabre Jr. on the June 24 episode of AEW Dynamite.

It remains unclear whether Perry will actually leave AEW or if the delay is simply part of a longer negotiation.
