MJF made it clear once again that, while he recognizes CM Punk’s talent, his personal opinion of the current WWE star has not changed.
During an appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show this Tuesday (May 19), Punk’s name came up. MJF said he is not surprised by how well the Best in the World is doing, but he once again attacked him in harsh terms, calling him a bad person while stressing that he still sees him as a great professional wrestler.
“No I’m not surprised at how good he’s doing, doesn’t change the fact he’s a fcking cnt. He just sucks, a bad guy, but he’s an incredible professional wrestler. How many times do I have to repeat myself, he’s a piece of sh*t, but he’s a great wrestler.”
The comment follows the same line MJF has taken in past interviews. In February, while speaking about Punk on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, the former AEW World Champion said he learned a lot from the hatred he feels toward Punk, especially about the difference between being good and being great in pro wrestling.
MJF and CM Punk had one of the most memorable rivalries in AEW history, with the peak coming in their Dog Collar Match at Revolution 2022.
MJF is currently back in the AEW World Championship picture. At Double or Nothing, which takes place May 24 at Louis Armstrong Stadium in Queens, he will challenge Darby Allin for the title. If MJF loses, he will have to shave his head.
