Becky Lynch will have to defend the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship against Sol Ruca at Clash in Italy following the controversial finish to their match at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Their first meeting took place this Saturday, May 23, at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The match was originally not scheduled to have the title on the line.
During the bout, Ruca went for the Sol Snatcher, but Lynch pulled referee Jessika Carr into the move. Carr then called for the disqualification, giving Ruca the win while allowing Becky to retain the title.
The crowd reaction was strongly negative, especially after Lynch left the ring laughing with the championship still in her possession. Later in the night, Nick Aldis appeared backstage and said Adam Pearce would not accept the champion’s actions.
As a result, Lynch was forced to put the title on the line against Ruca at Clash in Italy, which takes place Sunday, May 31, at Inalpi Arena in Turin, Italy.
Ruca recently arrived on the main roster and is still looking for her first major breakthrough on RAW.
