Add as a preferred source on Google Gunther, who will challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WWE Clash in Italy on May 31, said the European event could feel like an “away game” for the current champion.
In a recent interview with the Italian Wrestling Channel, the Austrian spoke about the advantage of competing on European soil and did not rule out a possible match with Brock Lesnar in the future.
Asked about potentially receiving a positive reaction from the Italian crowd, Gunther said the following:
“I think [Cody] he’s done his bit and I’m in the process of doing my bit as well. So, I think it will not disappoint on any level. Looking forward to it.”
“We’ll see. Well, obviously we’re in Europe, that’s my home turf… Happened similar before but it’s nothing that shakes me or something. I even think it makes it a little bit more interesting, to be honest. Might feel a little bit like an away game for Cody.”
On the latest episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Gunther brutally attacked Rhodes after the main event against Sami Zayn, holding the title high as a taunt.
