Rhea Ripley will defend the WWE Women’s Championship against Jade Cargill at Clash in Italy, WWE’s next premium live event. The match was confirmed on this week’s Friday Night SmackDown from Lexington, Kentucky.
The champion opened the show to respond to the challenge Cargill issued weeks ago, when she said she wanted a rematch for the title she lost at WrestleMania 42. WWE had already advertised the segment as Ripley’s response to that request.
Ripley won the title by defeating Cargill at the Showcase of the Immortals, ending “The Storm’s” reign in one of the top women’s division matches on the show.
The rivalry has continued to develop in recent weeks. On May 8, Cargill returned to SmackDown alongside Michin and B-Fab, attacking Ripley, Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss.
Before the match in Italy, both women will also be involved in a Six-Woman Tag Team Match at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Ripley will team with Charlotte and Bliss against Cargill, Michin and B-Fab.
Clash in Italy takes place Sunday, May 31, at Inalpi Arena in Turin. It will be WWE’s first premium live event in Italy and part of the company’s European tour.
