Nic Nemeth Set to Defend TNA World Title on Next Week’s Impact

Nic Nemeth will defend the TNA World Championship against Matt Hardy in a No DQ Match on the September 10 episode of TNA Impact.

The title bout was set during Thursday’s broadcast after multiple confrontations between both camps. Hardy kicked off the show by addressing his team’s recent tag title defeat, accusing the champion and his brother, Ryan Nemeth, of orchestrating the recent attack on Jeff Hardy. The confrontation quickly turned physical, sparking a pull-apart brawl that forced security to intervene.

Another backstage skirmish erupted later in the night, prompting Santino Marella to step in and officially book the No DQ contest for next week.

The rivalry intensified at Lockdown on August 23, when Nic and Ryan Nemeth defeated The Hardys to capture the TNA World Tag Team Championship. That victory established the world champion as a simultaneous double titleholder.

Nemeth also recently retained the TNA World Championship against Jeff Hardy. Looking ahead to Bound for Glory on October 11, the champion already has his next major challenger lined up in Leon Slater, who exercised Option C and vacated the X-Division Championship to secure the title shot.
