Nikki Bella continues to work toward an in-ring return for WWE, but she still does not have an official date for when she will be cleared.
The WWE Hall of Famer has been out of action since March, when she suffered an ankle injury that kept her out of WrestleMania 42. Paige replaced her in the match and won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship alongside Brie Bella.
In a recent interview with USA Today, Nikki said she hopes to return by late June, though doctors have not given her a firm timetable yet.
“In my head, late June would be amazing, but I also don’t want to come back too soon.”
The former champion explained that her main concern is avoiding another injury. According to Nikki, that usually happens when the body’s strength has not caught up with the recovery of the injured area.
Because of that, Nikki said she needs to strengthen her calves, quads, and glutes before returning to competition. She previously revealed on The Nikki & Brie Show that the initial expectation was for her to miss six to eight weeks, with a possible appearance at Night of Champions in mind.
Night of Champions is set to take place on Saturday, June 27, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. As of now, however, WWE has not confirmed Nikki Bella for the premium live event.
