Add as a preferred source on Google Penta and Rey Fenix are both enjoying big moments as singles competitors, but the story of the Lucha Bros is far from over.
Currently on Raw, Penta has held the WWE Intercontinental Championship since March 2, when he defeated Dominik Mysterio. Fenix, meanwhile, captured the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship on May 30 and has already defended the title against the likes of Axiom, Nathan Frazer, and El Hijo del Vikingo on SmackDown.
In a recent interview with the Dallas Morning News, Penta was asked about the brothers’ success as champions and promised that the team will reunite at some point.
“Definitely, definitely. I expect that. Because I know in my heart, at some point, the Lucha Bros. come together again.
When? I don’t know exactly, but (for) now, I’ll enjoy this this kind of season in my life, in my career, in singles. My brother, too. Now he is champion, I am champion. Now we’ve started building in different ways.
But the most important thing is, I promise you, one time in some point the Lucha Bros. will be back.”
The reunion nearly happened at Guerra de Titanes in December 2025. Penta, however, suffered a shoulder injury and had to be pulled from the match, in which he was set to team with Fenix.
In March of this year, during Rey de Reyes, the brothers appeared together again and teased a possible Lucha Bros reunion at Triplemanía or a future AAA event.
Penta and Fenix have won multiple championships as a team. The most memorable moment came at AEW All Out 2021, when they defeated the Young Bucks in a Steel Cage match to win the AEW World Tag Team Championship. The reign lasted 122 days.
