Penta is open to an unusual change to WWE‘s show structure. The current Intercontinental Champion revealed that he prefers working in six-sided rings, a format popularized by AAA and TNA.
In a recent interview with the Battleground Podcast, Penta was asked which format he prefers between the traditional four-sided ring and the six-sided ring.
“Six-sided ring, definitely.”
He was then asked if he’d suggest to Triple H or to WWE itself that they use that type of ring at some point. Penta didn’t rule out the idea and made it clear he’s ready for any scenario.
“Why not? Why not now? In this time, WWE can do everything. It would be very special, right? Penta is ready for everything, no matter if the ring is six, eight, ten, no matter what. Penta is ready.”
The six-sided ring was one of TNA’s trademarks for much of the 2000s. The format was phased out in 2010, brought back in 2014, and dropped again in 2018, with the company sticking to the traditional four-sided ring ever since.
For WWE, a change like that would be rare, but not impossible, especially if tied to a special presentation involving Penta or even AAA.
Penta is currently waiting to find out his next Intercontinental Championship challenger. Dragon Lee, Chad Gable, Joe Hendry, Je’Von Evans, Dominik Mysterio, Ethan Page, and Rusev will compete in a Gauntlet Match on the July 13 episode of Raw, with the winner facing Penta at SummerSlam.
