Piper Niven has been sidelined from WWE for over a year, but she just shared one of the most encouraging updates since she began treatment for her serious neck injury.
In an Instagram post, Niven revealed that she received the results of her 12-week recovery scans and that her progress was described as excellent.
“Howdy cowpokes 🤠 got my 12 week scans and everything is ‘healing beautifully’.”
Niven’s situation had raised real concerns about her future in the ring. In June, she confirmed that she has been dealing with cervical stenosis and cautioned that a return was still a long way off, going so far as to acknowledge she may never wrestle again.

10:08 PM · Aug 29, 2026Niven underwent an anterior discectomy in May. A few weeks later, she posted a neck X-ray and reported that the fusion was progressing as expected.
She also explained at the time that a three-level fusion had been considered the more appropriate course of action but would have all but ended her chances of returning to the ring. Because of that, she initially opted for a single-level procedure.
Her last match took place on the August 22, 2025 edition of SmackDown at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland, where she picked up a big win over Charlotte Flair.
Despite the encouraging update, Niven has not announced any timeline for being cleared or returning to WWE programming.
