Matt Cardona is out of action after suffering a complete triceps tear that required surgery on August 25. Despite the surgeon’s initial recovery timeline, Cardona has already set a far more aggressive target for his return.
Speaking on the Broski Breakdown on WWE Radio, Cardona said he was given a five-month recovery window but plans to cut that to roughly three.
“The surgeon said five. I’m gonna try to do it in three.”
Cardona suffered the injury on August 21 during a match against Kit Wilson taped for WWE Main Event. He felt a pop after hitting a dropkick, and a subsequent MRI confirmed a complete triceps tear at the elbow.
“I got back from my other injuries faster because I’m busting my ass. I don’t want this vacation. I don’t—some people like sitting home getting their check. I don’t like that. No. I like to hustle. I like to work.”
“So, uh, I’ll be working my ass off to get back, uh, in three months or so.”
If Cardona hits that target again, he could return to WWE programming before the end of 2026.
