Randy Orton beat Cody Rhodes at WWE Sunday Night’s Main Event.
Orton used a low blow before hitting the RKO on Sunday at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. The match was physical and spilled to the floor several times.
Rhodes took over late and hit Orton with the steel steps, busting him open.
Back in the ring, Rhodes connected with a Cody Cutter and two Cross Rhodes in a row. He lined up a Punt Kick from there but didn’t throw it after Orton put his hands up and begged him to stop.
A second referee came into the ring to check on Orton. That was when Orton caught Rhodes off guard with a low blow that also took out the referee.
Orton went straight to the RKO. The original referee, who had been knocked down earlier, made it back into the ring and counted the three.
Orton and Rhodes restarted their feud August 1 at SummerSlam. Orton returned during Rhodes’ Undisputed WWE Championship match with CM Punk and hit Rhodes with an RKO, allowing Punk to land the GTS and retain the title.
Two weeks later, on the August 14 SmackDown, Orton attacked Rhodes before his match with Sami Zayn. The attack led to a big brawl through TD Garden in Boston, heating up the feud ahead of Sunday’s match in Atlanta.
