Randy Orton made his next target in WWE clear.
Opening Friday’s SmackDown in Mexico City, the Viper said he’s coming for whoever walks out of tonight’s main event between CM Punk and Sami Zayn with the Undisputed WWE Championship.
Orton cut the promo just days after defeating Cody Rhodes at Sunday Night’s Main Event this past Sunday in Atlanta. In the closing stretch of the match, Rhodes had the chance to deliver the Punt Kick but hesitated, opening the door for Orton to pick up the win.
During his promo, Orton said Rhodes showed exactly who he is by not hitting the Punt Kick. Cody is a good man, a good father, husband, and friend. Orton, though, is the Legend Killer, and he’s willing to do whatever it takes to win his 15th world title.
As for CM Punk, he won the Undisputed WWE Championship on July 6 by defeating Sami Zayn.
Since then, Zayn has worked his way back into the title picture. On August 28, he interfered in the triple threat between Kevin Owens, Gunther, and Finn Bálor to determine Punk’s next challenger, causing the match to end in a no contest.
Last week, Punk retained the title against Johnny Gargano even after another Zayn interference. After the match, the champion challenged Zayn to a title match tonight in Mexico City.
Now, Orton has made it clear he will be waiting for whoever leaves with the Undisputed WWE Championship.
