Rebel made a special appearance during Britt Baker’s match at Wednesday’s Rebel Heart edition of AEW Dynamite, from Akins Ford Arena in Athens, Georgia.
In a wheelchair, Rebel appeared in the match’s closing moments and handed Baker her signature glove before the win.
The match featured current TBS Champion and CMLL World Women’s Champion Persephone, Britt Baker and Hikaru Shida, who defeated Maya World, Hyan and Thunder Rosa.
In the closing moments, Rosa chased Baker around the ring. That’s when Rebel showed up at ringside to a huge reaction from the crowd and handed Baker the glove.
Hyan tried to catch Baker with a roll-up but couldn’t get the pin. Baker answered with a thrust kick and locked in the Lockjaw, making Hyan tap out to end the match.
After the match, Baker sat on Rebel’s lap as Rebel wheeled her up the entrance ramp.
The bond between Rebel and Baker dates back to AEW‘s early years, when Rebel began regularly accompanying the former AEW Women’s World Champion on programming. In March, Brooks was diagnosed with ALS after roughly two years of health issues.
In July, AEW announced it would dedicate the September 9 episode of Dynamite to Rebel. The show was organized to raise awareness for ALS and benefit I AM ALS and Team Gleason, with AEW also donating 100 percent of the proceeds from special “Rebel Heart” merchandise to the two organizations.
