Thekla took aim at Mercedes Moné again on the September 9 Rebel Heart episode of Dynamite. She demanded that Moné come out and also taunted Willow Nightingale during the segment.
Thekla brought up Moné’s celebration from last week and how she talked about her dreams and everything else. She then referenced her own background in a Vienna punk band and said she hopes the AEW Women’s World Championship still carries her scent, her stamp.
Mercedes Moné then appeared in the middle of the crowd and responded. The champion said she has faced bigger egos throughout her career and made clear Thekla doesn’t intimidate her, before pointing to Willow Nightingale as an example of what happens to anyone who crosses her.
Thekla then turned her attention to Nightingale, calling her the worst AEW Women’s World Champion in history. She said Willow got lucky taking the title, then couldn’t hold on to it at All In: London.
Willow Nightingale interrupted the promo and ran to the ring. Thekla left before things got physical. She regrouped on the ramp with Skye Blue and Julia Hart.
Thekla’s point holds up, since Willow only held the belt for 35 days. On August 30 at All In: London, at Wembley Stadium, Mercedes Moné beat Nightingale to win the AEW Women’s World Championship for the first time.
That same night, Thekla returned to AEW programming and said she would be watching the match between Willow and Moné closely. Three days later, on the September 2 Dynamite, Thekla interrupted Moné’s celebration and declared she was ready to win back the title.
