Reina Volcan made a dominant debut on the July 21 episode of WWE NXT, defeating Skylar Raye by submission.

Volcan controlled most of the match with her physical strength. Raye battled back and came close to winning after landing a Tilt-a-Whirl Facebuster, but was ultimately caught in a Natural Disaster, a variation of the Argentine Backbreaker Rack, and couldn’t escape.

Although this was her first televised match, Volcan had already competed for WWE on previous occasions. Still going by the name Martinez at the time, she defeated Raye in a dark match held before the May 19 episode of NXT.

The two also teamed up on June 5, defeating Jessica The Unknown and Zena Sterling at a live event. Later, already introduced as Reina Volcan, the Dominican wrestler defeated Raye again at a show in Venice, Florida, on July 10.

Volcan first appeared on NXT programming on June 30, when she stormed the ring and attacked Tatum Paxley. Her new name was officially revealed the following week.

Before arriving in WWE, Volcan trained under Gangrel and won the women’s titles in Coastal Championship Wrestling and Metroplex Wrestling.
